What the guarantee covers

If a candidate placed by AussieTechTalent leaves or is dismissed for performance-related reasons within 12 months of their start date, we will conduct a full replacement search at no additional recruitment fee.

This means a complete, fresh search - not a quick call around to see if anyone is available. A new brief, new headhunt, new shortlist. The same process we ran the first time, at no additional charge.

The guarantee applies to permanent placements and contract-to-permanent conversions. It covers departures where the candidate's performance, conduct, or technical capability was the primary reason they left or were asked to leave. Voluntary resignations for personal reasons unrelated to the role are not covered.

Fee structure

Our placement fee is a percentage of the placed candidate's first-year base salary. We discuss the exact percentage directly during the intake call - it is set before the search begins and does not change if the candidate negotiates a higher salary than anticipated.

For permanent placements, we work on a retained basis. A partial retainer is paid at the start of the search to cover active headhunt time. The remainder is invoiced on the candidate's start date. The retainer is deducted from the final placement fee - it is not an additional charge.

The retainer is non-refundable if the search is cancelled after active headhunting has begun. If we are unable to deliver a shortlist that meets the agreed brief, the retainer is credited against a future search.

Payment terms

  • Retainer: due before search commencement, net 7 days
  • Placement fee balance: invoiced on candidate start date, net 14 days
  • Replacement search: no additional fee if guarantee conditions are met

Our fees

We operate on a success-only basis. There are no upfront fees, no charges for shortlists, no fees for interviews conducted. We are invoiced only when a candidate we have introduced accepts an offer and commences the role.

Our standard fee for permanent placements is between 15% and 20% of the candidate's first-year base salary, excluding superannuation. The exact percentage depends on the seniority of the role, the complexity of the search, and the specifics of the engagement. We confirm the fee in writing before any search begins, so there are no surprises later.

Standard payment terms are 14 days from the candidate's start date.

What is included

The fee covers the full search: intake, market mapping, candidate sourcing, screening, shortlist presentation, interview coordination, reference checking, and offer negotiation. We do not charge separately for any part of the process.

Replacement guarantee

Every permanent placement is backed by a twelve-month replacement guarantee. If the candidate we placed leaves the role within twelve months of commencement - whether by their decision or yours - we will run a replacement search at no additional fee. Full terms below.

Guarantee FAQ

Does the guarantee cover all placement types?

Yes. Permanent and contract-to-permanent placements. Pure contract placements are not covered by the 12-month replacement guarantee as the nature of contract engagements is inherently time-limited.

What counts as a performance-related departure?

A departure where the candidate's performance, conduct, or technical capability was the primary reason they left or were asked to leave. This includes cases where the candidate misrepresented their experience or skills during the recruitment process.

What if the candidate resigns for personal reasons unrelated to the role?

Voluntary resignations for personal reasons - relocation, health, career change - are not covered by the replacement guarantee. The guarantee is specifically for performance-related departures.

Is there a limit on how many replacement searches we can use?

One replacement search per original placement. The replacement search is not itself covered by a further 12-month guarantee, though we stand behind the quality of every candidate we place.

When does the 12-month period start?

From the candidate's first day in the role, not from the date of the placement invoice.

Do you charge for expenses during a replacement search?

No. The replacement search fee covers the full search. We do not charge advertising, travel, or assessment costs on top of the replacement search.
